Morning Constitutional

Encouraging thought for the day

Having graduated from college at the age of 16, I’ve since done everything from scrubbing toilets for a living to teaching at a university to a decade of being a lead designer at a Fortune 500 tech company.

I’m the father of a three year old little girl, and whether she turns out to have a run-of-the-mill 1-in-100 intellect like her mother, or a 1-in-100000 intellect like myself, her existence has changed my relation to everything else, and she is the inspiration for this blog.

One of the hallmarks of exceptionally gifted children is a firm idea of the way the world should be.  This is quite painful, coupled as it usually is with an equally clear understanding of what the world actually is.  I wish to encourage thought, but doubt I will have much success in the project.  The primary purpose of the human mind is to filter the environment, letting only a tiny, tiny percentage of information have a brief moment of conscious attention, and letting even fewer moments get written to long term storage.

Hopefully the Morning Constitutional will spark something, bring some worthwhile meme up for a tiny moment to bask in the light of reason before fading away.
